Adult Weight Management Intervention – Fit Fans
Fit Fans and Fit Fans for Her; our community adult weight management programme is a very successful programme to date. Informed by extensive and ongoing research, the Fit Fans Project represents a credible vehicle for a wide range of BMI and functionality. As a gender specific programme designed specifically for the differing needs of men and women it represents our general approach to stratifying services to meet individual need. Typically clients will be have BMI 25 – 40kg/m2
Results to date:
- 1500 enrolled in with 80% adherence rate.
- 100% of completers achieve weight loss.
- >50% significant weight loss (>5% of base-line)
- 7936lbs of total weight loss
- Average weight loss achieved 12lbs
Fit Fans has recently had a full qualitative evaluation using SF36 to provide a measure of success beyond the participants’ physical changes, and this has shown outstanding results Fit Fans Report.
Childhood Weight Management Intervention – Alive ‘N’ Kicking
Currently Alive ‘N’ Kicking is achieving the following KPI’s across all child classifications (BMI > 91st centile [overweight], BMI > 98th Centile [obese] and BMI > 99.6th Centile [severely obese]):
- Numbers of families / children enrolled >400
- Attrition from programme <20%
- >50% of parents also lose weight during the 12 week programme
- >90% of completers decrease their BMIz score from baseline at week 12
- 80% of completers decrease their waist circumference over 12 weeks
- Average % BMIz score reduction across target age ranges (7-15 years) = 7%
The qualitative benefits that the programme delivers, such as improved self esteem and quality of life are also very important, and are highlighted in our recent Results report.
